Shortland Street axed from Living
Living TV has confirmed to ATV Today that Shortland Street will not be returning.
The New Zealand soap has stopped broadcasting on Living TV after disappointing ratings. After initially launching in a 3pm slot daily, this was later moved. ATV Today contacted Living TV and we had this response, “it is no longer on LIVING”. Shortland Street had been pulling in just 11,000 viewers for Living when it first launched over the Summer.
The long running soap previously aired in the UK on ITV before being axed in the early 2000’s. However, by the time of its cancellation by ITV it was not networked across the broadcaster and only shown on a few regional franchises. Living began broadcasting episodes of the New Zealand soap from 2007 which saw the first appearance of former Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt. In New Zealand the actor has recently left the soap. . The show is still popular in Ireland and other countries in Europe.
