The sixth series of The Apprentice with Lord Sugar kicked off on BBC One last night with over 6 million viewers according to overnight figures. The business reality series, from Talkback Thames, returned for a brand new season with a new bunch of hopefuls desperate to make it to the end of the series and become Lord Sugar’s new apprentice. However, only one of them will make it and across the series the rest of them will be told; ‘You’re Fired’. According to overnight ratings The Apprentice returned for its sixth season with 6.6 million viewers which is down on the 8.1 million who tuned in for last year’s launch.

Following The Apprentice was BBC Two spin-off The Apprentice: You’re Fired, hosted by Dara O’Briain, which had 2.6 million viewers. Former The One Show host Adrian Chiles was the presenter of the spin-off before he defected to ITV1 earlier this year to spearhead breakfast programme Daybreak and front the broadcasters football coverage.
