Former painter and decorator Matt Cardle is currently favourite with William Hill to win The X Factor this year, with odds of 11/4.His judge, Dannii Minogue was overwhelmed with the crowds response on Paul O’Grady Live yesterday evening, when the mention of his name sent the crowd wild. Katie Waissel is favourite to be the first contestant to be eliminated this weekend at 11/4.

Contestants and judges have been rehearsing for the first live show which airs tonight at The Fountain Studios in Wembley. X Factor judge Louis Walsh twittered on Thursday that they have been busy at the studios, “We’ve all been very busy though, it’s rehearsal madness at fountain studios wembley”.

Rumours have been circulating this week as to what the big twist will be. It’s expected to be the not so secret wild card – which will see some of those rejected last weekend coming back, hoping to secure a place as one of the finalists.

The story of the past week has been Gamu Nhengu, who was not put through to the live shows. It has been widely reported that Cheryl Cole, who made the decision, had pressure put on her not to put Gamu through although this is strongly denied by ITV. William Hill are offering odds of 3/1 that Gamu will appear on The Oprah Winfery Show in America before the end of this year.
