The Complete Second Series is being released by Network DVD who have released previous ITV dramas such as London’s Burning, The Bill and Peak Practice as well as soaps Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Emergency Ward 10 and Crossroads.

The second series of Heartbeat originally aired in 1993 and features appearances from future stars such as John Simm, Marc Warren and Hugo Speer. Heartbeat recently ended its run on ITV1 after 18 seasons on-air which also spawned medical-based spin-offs The Royal and the rather unsuccessful The Royal: Today. In its heyday the series attracted audiences of over 14 million viewers but in recent years audiences dwindled to under 5 million. The drama was criticised for falling to move out of the 1960s where it remained throughout its run. The Royal was also cancelled alongside parent series Heartbeat by ITV earlier this year.
