X Factor: Wild Card X Factor pulls in over 12 million viewers

The Wild Card twist in Saturday evening’s edition of the X Factor saw ratings top 12 million viewers. Fan calls for a boycott over Cheryl Cole’s decision to put through Cher Lloyd at the expense of Gamu Nhengu obviously fell on deaf ears. The X Factor on Saturday evening had an average audience of 12.2 million viewers with a peak of 13.5 million viewers. 

Over on BBC One Strictly Come Dancing saw a rise in viewers with figures reaching the 9 million mark with a peak of 10.2 million viewers. Meanwhile fantasy drama series Merlin held steady at 5.4 million viewers as its third series continued. The National Lottery: In It To Win It had 4 million viewers at 8.30 while medical drama Casualty continued to struggle with 4 million viewers.

Following The X Factor on ITV1 was an edition of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories which featured Barbara Windsor. The actress recently bowed out of BBC soap EastEnders as Peggy Mitchell in a storyline which saw Phil (Steve McFadden) responsible for the burning down of the Queen Vic. Life Stories attracted 4.4 million viewers on ITV1 against 3.9 million viewers on BBC One for Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.
