BBC’s Nick Robinson apologises for destroying protester’s sign
BBC Political Editor Nick Robinson has apologised for destroying an anti-war protester’s sign after a live broadcast.
Nick Robinson had just finished his live report from Westminster when he turned round and took the protester’s sign and tore it up. Footage of the incident has been posted on YouTube which you can see below.
Speaking on his BBC News blog, Robinson said “I have a confession. After the news was over, I grabbed the sign and ripped it up – apparently you can watch video of my sign rage in full glorious technicolour on the web. I lost my temper and I regret that.”
He went on to say “I am a great believer in free speech but I also care passionately about being able to do my job reporting and analysing one of the most important political stories for years.”
