BBC to highlight child poverty in Britain
A new observational documentary on BBC One will look at child poverty in Britain today.
My Life – Child Poverty In Britain Today is described as an intimate portrayal of the realities of child poverty in the country today. Filming begun in the summer of this year and will continue through to early next year. The story will be told through the eyes and voice of the children who feature in the programme.
Award winning film maker Brian Woods is behind the programme which will air in Spring 2011. This ties in with a raft of documentaries announced by the BBC today which will look at the story of contemporary Britain. BBC Commissioning Editor for Documentaries said today “The BBC has a huge responsibility to reflect and capture modern Britain through challenging and thought-provoking documentaries that try to make sense of the world around us. Our mission is to find interesting ways to tell stories about ordinary and extraordinary people using unique access to often contentious and challenging subjects which resonate with Britain today.”
BBC Three will be taking a look at the pursuit of pleasure amongst the young.
