UK fans of the New Zealand medical soap Shortland Street after the series was axed by Living Loves. The soap returned to UK screens earlier this year when digital channel Living acquired the rights and started airing episodes from 2007 when former Coronation Street actor Adam Rickett joined the cast. After only a few weeks Shortland Street was shunted to Living’s sister channel, Living Loves due to low ratings.

It was announced in October that the soap would disappear from UK screens once again as Living Loves were to stop airing episodes. Since then soap left UK airwaves once again angry fans have been posting on ATV Today over its demise. Many are not happy that Shortland Street has once again been axed from the UK especially as many were starting to get hooked on the storylines.

I was so excited when Shortland Street returned to Living TV in August. After a short while it moved to Living Loves without any notification. Now I see that from Friday, 29th October, it is off our screens yet again. Where is it moving to this time? How do you expect to keep your viewers when you just move things around. We then miss episodes trying to find it again. – Karen writing on ATV Today

It is not the first time that Shortland Street has been axed from the UK. The New Zealand soap in the 1990s and the early 2000s aired on several of the ITV regions. However, slowly over time Shortland Street disappeared from the ITV schedules until it was axed completely in 2003.
