The BBC’s modern-day take on Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, has been nominated for five Royal Television Society Craft and Design Awards. The three-part series, adapted by Mark Gattis and Steven Moffat, aired on BBC One over the Summer to rave reviews and high ratings. The BBC has commissioned a second series featuring the famous Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle creation.
Sherlock has been nominated for five Royal Television Society Craft and Design Awards in categories such as Best Photography in a Drama and Best Original Score. Martin Freeman has recently been cast alongside James Nesbit and Richard Armitage in the film The Hobbit which is due to begin filming in New Zealand in January. Freeman’s casting in the film as well as Moffat’s commitment to Doctor Who has prompted some tabloids to claim the future of Sherlock is in doubt – the BBC however, has denied this.
