Matt Cardle shocked at Aiden Grimshaw’s exit from The X Factor

Matt Cardle has admitted he was shocked that Aiden Grimshaw was voted off The X Factor on Sunday evening. Grimshaw ended up in the bottom two alongside Katie Waissel but while Simon and Cheryl opted to save Waissel Danni and Louis opted to save Aiden – meaning deadlock between the judges. This meant that the act with fewer votes from the public had to leave and, in a surprise to almost everyone, that turned out to be Aiden Grimshaw. Now fellow contestant Cardle has admitted he too was surprised by the exit of Grimshaw and also criticised Simon Cowell’s decision to vote for Katie Waissel.
“I’m shocked and devastated. It is like losing a brother. I was surprised by the result. When it went to Katie and Aiden in the bottom two, I didn’t think he would go. Even when it went to deadlock, I thought he would stay. I knew Dannii and Louis would vote for Aiden but I was shocked when Simon sent him home, but then Katie is better for the show than Aiden is.In terms of the television show, Aiden was expendable. I don’t know how things will work out (now we are in the final eight) if anyone else is in the bottom two with Katie. It depends who is in the bottom two with her. I think there would be f***ing uproar if, say, someone like Rebecca was pushed out of the competition in favour of Katie. – Matt Cardle quoted in Daily Record
X Factor fans were furious that Katie Waissel once again survived to sing for another week. Last week Waissel survived at the expense of Treyc Cohen when the two Cheryl Cole acts ended up in the bottom and their mentor refused to pick between them.
