Chris Evans and Clare Balding to host new Channel 4 show

Chris Evans and Clare Balding are to host Famous and Fearless, a new show which replaces Celebrity Big Brother in the new year.

Broadcasting live over six nights in the New Year, in front of an audience of 5000 people at the Echo Arena Liverpool, Famous and Fearless follows 8 celebrities as they go head to head in a series of adrenaline-fuelled sports challenges such as BMXing, Street luge and Monster Trucks.

The contest will begin on 2nd January will see celebrities take part in a mix of urban and extreme sports. The show will be broadcast live and and the top man and woman will go head to head in a live finale, in which they will win a cash prize for their chosen charity. Radio 2 breakfast show host Chris Evans says “Famous and Fearless will be brilliant. Simply a huge, ambitious show with celebrities, monster trucks and an arena crowd, live every night. What’s not to like? It will be a week like no other and I can’t wait to be at the heart of it.”

Clare Balding says that Chris is one of the most talented live presenters on television. “I am hugely excited to be working with Chris again, who is in my opinion the most talented live presenter on TV. I am also looking forward to seeing 8 very brave people putting themselves under pressure in sports they have never attempted before. I know that the people of Liverpool will ensure that the atmosphere is amazing and it will be a unique TV experience.”

Channel 4 Head of Entertainment Justin Gorman comments on how well both of them get along. “Chris and Clare bring experience, personality and a wicked sense of humour to what will be a fierce live contest. They are also two of the few people I know who will take the daring combination of extreme sports and live TV completely in their stride. It’s great to have them onboard.”
