Glynis Barber talks EastEnders role

Glynis Barber has revealed that she doesn’t trust her EastEnders’ alter-ego Glenda Mitchell.

Speaking to Inside Soap, the actress – who is best known for her role as Harriet Makepeace in cop-drama Dempsey and Makepeace – revealed that someone like Glenda isn’t her cup of tea.

“As Carol said on screen, Glenda’s not a woman’s woman – she’s more of a man’s woman. I don’t really take to people like that, to be perfectly honest.

“I get on very well with women, and I’m always slightly suspicious of anyone who’s only interested in men – so that wouldn’t endear her to me in real life.

“However, she’d probably be great fun on a night out.” – Glynis Barber

In the BBC saga’s current plots man-eater Glenda has her eye on two of Albert Square’s male residents – Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

Glynis added of Samantha Womack and Rita Simons, who play her on-screen daughters Ronnie and Roxy: “Sam and Rita are great and I love working with them.”
