Matt Baker to be confirmed as The One Show host?

Matt Baker is due to be confirmed as Jason Manford’s replacement on The One Show according to a tabloid report.

Gone..  Jason Manford left Alex Jones after only four months co-hosting.

According to Sunday tabloid The People the BBC have found a replacement for Jason Manford on The One Show. The comedian stepped down as co-host of the BBC magazine programme earlier this month to spend more time with his family and admitted in an interview with The Sun that conversations with fans he had online had “gone too far”.

Matt Jones, former Blue Peter presenter and one of the Countryfile hosts, quickly emerged as a front-runner to replace Manford and according to The People has won the job and will be announced as the new host later this week.

The tabloid reports that Baker will step down from his role on Countryfile to take over presenting dues with Alex Jones on The One Show. The search for a new host on the BBC series is the second this year the corporation has had to undertake following the departures of Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles in the Summer.

Alex Jones and Jason Manford were selected as replacements with Chris Evans co-hosting The One Show on Friday’s with Jones. Matt Baker has occasionally presented The One Show when one of the regular presenters is absent and is currently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.

Matt Baker has co-hosted The One Show previously as a guest presenter.
