Rehearsals for live Coronation Street episode begin

Coronation Street 50th AnniversaryRehearsals for the forthcoming live episode of Coronation Street are expected to begin tonight.

Rehearsals for the forthcoming live episode of Coronation Street are expected to begin tonight. The live episode, which will air on Thursday 9th December, is to mark the soaps 50th anniversary and follows in the footsteps of Coronation Street’s 40th anniversary in 2000 which was also marked by a live episode. However, this time around the live episode is to be more ambitious with the aftermath of the highly anticipated tram-crash to be the focus.

“The first full dress rehearsal will not be until the eve of screening. That’d be cutting it fine.” – An “insider” speaking to The Mirror.

The Mirror reports that the soaps cast will spend all of this week and next week in run-throughs for the live episode – although the snow may prove problematic for the soap in terms of continuity. If the snow continues through to the episode itself the aftermath of the crash will feature snow whereas the run-up to the crash – which has already been recorded – will not.

The tram-crash will kill off several regular characters as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations and fans have been speculating for some weeks now as to whom will not survive.
