Pillars of the Earth sequel commissioned

StarzFollowing the worldwide success of the medieval drama The Pillars of the Earth a sequel, based on Ken Follett’s novel World Without War, has been ordered. The eight part series has proved to be a hit around the world with millions of viewers tuning in for the adaptation of Ken Follett’s novel of the same name. The series starred Ian McShane, Matthew McFadyen, Refus Sewell and Sarah Parish – in the UK it aired on Channel Four.

 

The sequel World Without War is set a hundred years after the events the first series and take place during the Hundred Year’s War. Production will begin next year with broadcast in 2012. Several broadcasters such as Sky Italia, ORF (Austria), Cuatro (Spain) and ProSiebenSat.1 (Germany) have already signed up for the sequel.
