BBC Orders Caribbean Police Drama

BBC OneThe BBC has commissioned a new eight part police drama set in the Caribbean. The new drama, Death in Paradise, is being co-produced for BBC One and French broadcaster France Televisions.

 

BBC OneThe BBC has commissioned a new eight part police drama set in the Caribbean. The new drama, Death in Paradise, is being co-produced for BBC One and French broadcaster France Televisions. The series is being produced by Red Planet Pictures, Kudos Film & Television and Atlantique Productions in a deal with BBC Worldwide. The drama reportedly has a budget of £9 million and is being executive produced by Tony Jordan.

 

Tony Jordan’s previous credits, should they need stating, include EastEnders, Hustle, Life On Mars, City Central as well as Holby Blue, Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach. Death in Paradise has been written by Robert Thorogood, a winner of the annual writing competition run by Jordan’s company, Red Planet Pictures.

 

The eight-part drama revolves around English DI Richard Gill who hates travelling but is posted to the West Indie island of Sainte Marie. Filming is due to begin in April with casting underway.
