Nearly 20 million see Matt Cardle crowned winner of The X Factor
The most watched X Factor final sets new record as Matt Cardle is crowned the winner.
An average of 17.2 million viewers tuned in between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on ITV 1 to see Matt Cardle be crowned champion over Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction. The show peaked at 19.4 million viewers which also seen Take That back to perform their hit song ‘The Flood’. The success of The X Factor last night has helped British TV, with the highest Sunday night audience since 1992 averaging 28 million between 6.00pm and 10.30pm.
The semi-final of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, in which Scott Maslen and Gavin Henson were voted out, was watched 11.6 million viewers between 7.00pm and 7.30pm.
