New judges announced for Britain’s Got Talent

ITV has announced that comedian Michael McIntyre and former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has joined Britain’s Got Talent.

The new judges will sit alongside Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden. Although ITV has confirmed that Simon Cowell will only judge during the live shows, rather than the auditions due to other work commitments.

David Hasselhoff has previously been a judge on the Got Talent series, sitting on the American version of the hit show. It was announced earlier this year that Simon Cowell had agreed to keep The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent on ITV 1, along with taking a role on both shows. Simon is launching The X Factor in the US next year, which will air in the UK on ITV 2.

McIntyre is said to be excited to be joining the show. “I’m a massive fan of Britain’s Got Talent and am extremely excited to be a judge on the new series. I was so thrilled when Simon Cowell asked me that I immediately wanted to run in to Ant and Dec’s arms to celebrate!”

Ant and Dec will continue to host Britain’s Got Talent. It had been rumoured that Paul O’Grady might take over presenting duties. It is thought that he was the original name to host Britain’s Got Talent before he fell out with ITV and defected to Channel 4.
