BuffyBuffy the Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon has criticised the planned reboot of the franchise via a film which will not involve Joss Whedon. The planned reboot was announced earlier this year and will not involve Whedon even though he created the series. The movie will essential be a remake of the 1992 flop movie which was later turned into the highly successful television series. Nicholas Brendon played geeky Xander in all seven years of the television series.

“I hope their vampires don’t glitter. … You know, listen…I think it’s a mistake, I think that it’s trying to kind of—they have to reach a whole completely new fanbase. And we already have that fanbase. So it’s going to really be hard to kind of do that. But you know, everyone: They remade The Flintstones. Twice, I think.” – Nicholas Brendon in an interview with E! Online

Brendon is one of the first television cast members to come out and criticise the forthcoming movie. Fans of Buffy have also been vocal in their disapproval of any Buffy project that does not involve creator Joss Whedon.
