Actors Neil Patrick Harris and Eric Braeden have traded words after Braeden pulled out of an appearance in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Braeden, who plays Victor Newman on the CBS daytime soap The Young and the Restless, was due to appear on the popular prime-time soap reprising a role he last played several years ago. However, the actor reportedly backed out of the appearance which angered How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris who slammed the actor via Twitter,
“Eric Braeden is a D-Bag. The actor, (Robin’s dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn’t ‘substantial’ enough. We’ve recast with Ray Wise, a fantastic actor who makes any part ‘substantial.’ Super excited to welcome him to the family!” – Neil Patrick Harris on Twitter
The actor later toned down his comments though and Tweeted.
“Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment,. Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show.” – Neil Patrick Harris on Twitter
Eric Braeden has fired back at Harris via an interview with Entertainment Weekly in which he revealed why he had pulled out of the guest spot on How I Met Your Mother – his increased workload on Young and the Restless had left him “exhausted”.
“His choice of words bothered me. It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who’s received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris. I’ve been in the business for 50 years. I’ve seen people come and go and I’m still here.” –Eric Braeden in Entertainment Weekly
However, it seems as though the “feud” between the two actors may have run its course because Braeden stated he was more than happy to “let bygones be bygones”.
