Who would want to kill Tracy Barlow?
If you haven’t heard by now that Tracy Barlow is returning to Coronation Street this Christmas then you must have been hibernating. Weatherfield’s resident schemer, murderer and bitch returns to wreck havoc on the cobbles once more but as you may also have heard someone tries to kill Tracy, but who? Well given Tracy’s past there are a fair few people who would have reason enough and here we present a few likely and a few unlikely suspects.
If you haven’t heard by now that Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) is returning to Coronation Street this Christmas then you must have been hibernating.
Gail Platt (Helen Worth)
If wicked Tracy had her ways poor Gail would be serving him in prison now for the “murder” of her husband, Joe. ‘Tracyluv’ got up in court and told the Jury how Gail “confessed” to her – it was a pack of lies of course. Tracy’s devious plans to try and reduce her sentence but it back fired because the court found Gail not guilty. However, we hardly think Gail will simply forget what Tracy did to her in prison and won’t be overly happy to see the woman back on the street and living opposite her. Could Gail actually murder someone though? Well husband Richard certainly killed a few people in his time, maybe she picked up some tips from him?
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd)
If there is anyone who can rival devious, wicked schemes on the street it is David Platt – the male version of Tracy essentially. After all only a mind as wicked as David – or indeed Tracy’s – could come up with faking a suicide attempt to derail his sister’s wedding. That is just one of the many schemes the wicked boy has come up with over the years. But David is fiercly protective of his family even if some of the time he is plotting against them. When Todd came out as gay he attacked him and later sprayed homophobic graffiti on his door. So David seeing Tracy free and on the street would enrage him and he is more than capable of violence. He pushed Gail down the stairs after discovering Tina’s abortion. David is more than capable but surely he’s realise he would be high on the suspects list?
Becky McDonald (Katherine Kelly)
Tracy Barlow doesn’t take kindly to any woman who gets close to Steve McDonald, mainly because she has an insane love for him which has convinced her they are destined to be together. So Becky, much like Karen, has fallen foul of Tracy’s bent logic and determination to get ‘her man’. We’ve already seen the two clash thanks to Tracy’s winding up of Becky who has a very short temper. Rumour has it that Tracy returns gloating she wants Amy back. Now if Becky will rob her neighbours, a burning shop, to get money to pay off her sister for her little boy what lengths would Becky go to keep Amy out of the hands of Tracy?
Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson)
You could very well argue that Steve McDonald’s life has been ruined by Tracy. His marriage to Karen was undermined from the word go by the Barlow woman and eventually collapsed because Karen could not give Steve a child of her own. Steve has had custody of Amy while Tracy has been in-prison but now see’s free and wants her daughter back – will Steve just hand her over? Unlikely and given how Tracy has ruined his life so far – and knowing she’ll do her best to try and oust Becky – could Steve snap and try to kill the biggest sexual mistake of his life?
Karen McDonald (Suranne Jones)
Dubbed ’Barren Karen’ by her nemesis Tracy this is a woman who has motive enough above all the other suspects. The feud between Tracy and Karen was a bitter one which eventually resulted in Karen leaving Steve and Weatherfield behind her. Tracy barged her way into one wedding of Karen and Steve’s to ruin it and tell them all who the real father of little Amy was. But would Karen really return to the street to simply do away with Tracy?
Roy/Hayley Cropper (David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh)
The kindly couple who were so ruthlessly used by Tracy have a very clear motive for murder. Poor Roy Cropper was duped by Tracy into believing her had slept with her and was the father of Amy – something that very nearly ruined his marriage. In a plot more outlandish than poison paint in Dynasty, Tracy laced Roy’s drink with a drug and lead him to believe they had slept together. It was all a plot of Tracy’s which was eventually revealed but revenge is a dish best served cold and the Croppers know all about serving dishes….
Other Suspects:
Claire Peacock (Julia Haworth) was taken in by Tracy’s story of domestic abuse at the hands of Charlie and got up in court and testified on Tracy’s behalf. Having just lost her husband Clare isn’t in the best of places right now and the return of murdereress Tracy to the street could tip her over the edge. Then again Clare has more pressing things to worry about now such as her future and we suspect she won’t remain in Weatherfield for much longer.
Who else would have motive for murdering Tracy? Well perhaps an unknown relative of Charlie’s. Perhaps a cousin, son or brother of Charlie’s who wants Tracy to really pay for their relatives murder. Perhaps they believe in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth; the best way to make her pay is by killing her. Maybe they are even living on the street already quietly waiting for the right moment to strike…..
Well they are our suspects for the attempted murder of Tracy Barlow but which one – if any – do you think will try and do away with the vixen? Post your suspects below!
