The third and concluding part of Upstairs Downstairs saw a rise in viewers after its second episode lost nearly 1 million viewers. The BBC revival of the classic drama opened on Sunday evening with 7.4 million viewers but Monday evening’s episode lost a sizable 800,000 viewers with 6.6 million viewers returning. However, last night’s final part of Upstairs Downstairs saw some viewers return as audiences rose to 7 million viewers.
The new Upstairs Downstairs is set in 1936 several years after the conclusion of the original series and Jean Marsh is the only actor from the series to reprise her role. Appearing alongside Marsh in the new BBC Upstairs Downstairs was Dame Eileen Atkins, Anne Reid and Keeley Hawes.
Viewers will now have to wait and see if the BBC order any additional episodes following the broadcast of the three-part series.
