11 million tune in to see London ring in the new year
Over 11 million viewers tuned into BBC One last night as we said goodbye to 2010 and good morning to 2011.
The 20 minute programme, New Year Live, average 10.2 million viewers. It peaked over 11 million viewers as a ten minute firework display lit up central London. On BBC One Scotland, viewers were treated to Hogmanay Live between 11.45pm – 12.45am. When the bells struck midnight, a massive 1.2 million viewers (66%) were watching BBC One Scotland.
An ITV News bulletin, which featured some of the fireworks display attracted just over 1 million viewers. The recorded Jools Holland Hootenanny wooed viewers with 3 million viewers.
