Julia SawalhaActress Julia Sawalha has stated she is unsure about the future of BBC One’s Sunday evening drama Lark Rise to Candleford. The series is based on the novels by Flora Thompson and the television series has been created by Bill Gallagher. However, there are rumours that the forthcoming fourth season of Lark Rise could be Gallagher’s last – putting a fifth season in doubt.

It sounds very diva-ish, but I think most of the cast agree that we’d have to see the scripts beforehand, because we have total faith in Bill. We don’t see his scripts beforehand. As we’re filming one script, another one’s coming in, and we get it two days before we start shooting. But we have total faith because he knows all the characters inside out, and he writes for us as actors.” – Julia Sawalha in TV Choice

The actress also revealed to the TV listings magazine that the fourth season of Lark Rise does provide a satisfying end for her character of Dorcas. “They’ve tied everything up beautifully“.

Lark Rise to Candleford returns to BBC One for its fourth season on Sunday 9th January.
