Anthony Head criticises Buffy remake
Anthony Head has become the latest former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star to criticise the proposed new film which will not involve creator Joss Whedon.
Anthony Head has criticised the proposed Buffy the Vampire Slayer film which will reboot the franchise but without the involve of its creator Joss Whedon. Anthony Head played British librarian/watcher Giles on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series and there’s long been stuck in development hell a spin-off series focusing on his character. Titled Ripper the spin-off has looked set to finally be made on several occasions but sadly never quite got there.
The actor has become the latest cast member of the television series – following Nicholas Brendon – to criticise plans to produce the new Buffy film without the involvement of Joss Whedon.
“It’s a horrible idea in as much as Buffy was a great conceit. It was a great story. … I don’t feel that you can then remake that without the original creator on board. It doesn’t make sense. And I mean, somewhere down the line, I suppose sometimes … I suppose you could, but it never sits very comfortably. With someone like Joss, why would you want to? Well, I know why you want to. You want to make money. As he said recently, ‘I hope it’s good!’ [laughs] I love him.” – Anthony Head in Huffington Post
Fans of Buffy have also been pretty vocal about their disapproval of the new film – it looks like the producers could have a hard sell with this movie.
