History Channel cancels The Kennedy mini-series

The History Channel will not broadcast its eight-part mini-series The Kennedys.

 

The History Channel will not broadcast its eight-part mini-series The Kennedys, reports Entertainment Weekly. The mini-series stars Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy and Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy. However, while the drama will still air in Canada it will not air on History – producers are looking for another broadcaster in America for The Kennedy’s.

 

In a statement regarding its decision not to broadcast The Kennedy’s History said ‘“While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand. We recognize historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our network” – statement quoted on Entertainment Weekly

 

Possible new broadcasters for The Kennedy’s could include Showtime, AMC, BBC America or HBO.
