NeighboursIn Australia last night long-running soap Neighbours made the move from Channel Ten to digital station Eleven. Neighbours returned from its Christmas break to its new home of Eleven. It was announced last year the soap was to move from its then home of Channel Ten to newly launched Eleven because of poor ratings. However, late last year it was said that Neighbours would air on both Channel Ten and Eleven to begin with until the end of January when it was air solely on Eleven. That plan seems to have been dropped though as Neighbours is just airing on Eleven.

So how did Neighbours fare in its new home? Well according to TV Tonight the 2011 season premier of the soap attracted 254,000 viewers making it Eleven’s most watched programme of the day. However, the figure is still lower than what the soap was attracting on Channel Ten throughout last year (on average). Doubtless Eleven bosses will be keeping a close eye on the performance of Neighbours in the coming weeks to see if ratings hold steady or decline further.
