New host of Sky News 'Live Desk' confirmed

Sky News Sunrise newsreader Charlotte Hawkins has confirmed she is to host the Live Desk replacing Colin Brazier.

Charlotte Hawkins, who sits alongside Eamonn Holmes each morning on Sunrise will be presenting the fast paced Live Desk programme at 9.00am weekdays. Writing on the Sky News blog pages she said “Things will be looking a little bit different on Sky News in the mornings from now because after Sunrise each morning I’ll be staying on to present the Live Desk from 9am until 10am.”

Gillian Joseph will present the Friday edition of the Live Desk. Colin Brazier will be presenting Sky News Today from 10.00am on Thursdays and Fridays. Next week will see the launch of ‘Boulton and Co’ presented by political editor Adam Boulton and Sarah Hughes from 1.00pm weekdays.

Charlotte went on to say that she hopes to be up to date with all the latest news as the 9.00am slot can be busy time for breaking news. “The period between 9am and 10am can be very busy with breaking news so its a key time of day for us. I just have to ensure I’m up to speed with all the latest developments before I make the short dash across the studio floor from the Sunrise set to the Live Desk area. The commercial break at five to nine gives me at least two and a half minutes of extra thinking time!”
