Craig Charles confirmed on Real Radio that there will be a brand new TV series of Red Dwarf.

Talking to Ditchy and Salty on Real Radio North West, Craig confirmed the cult classic, which was revived last year for what was thought to be a one-off on Dave, will start recording later in the year.

He said; “It did really well, which was kind of quite weird because we were just doing it for a laugh, but it got more viewers than BBC2 and Channel 4 combined on the night on Dave so they’ve just commissioned another series of Red Dwarf.”

He went on to say; “We are going to film at the end of November, December and January.” The new series will feature the original cast. “The lads; The Cat, Kryten, Rimmer – they all kinda want to do it but only if it’s going to be really, really good. Because it’s got a good legacy and you don’t want to spoil that legacy.”

Craig Charles is currently a regular on top rating ITV serial Coronation Street where he plays cabbie Lloyd Maloney.
