Being HumanSyfy’s remake of Being Human had the better of MTV’s remake of Skins on Monday evening. Both dramas are remakes of British shows of the same name. Being Human is a supernatural drama about three room-mates; a vampire, a ghost and werewolf. Skins is a teen-drama about drugs, sex, partying and drinking and has attracted considerable controversy for MTV so far.

The second episode of Being Human on Syfy on Monday evening saw a slight rise in ratings as 2.14 million viewers tuned in. Being Human performed well in all key demos and continues to be Syfy’s best winter launch since the re-imaged Battlestar Galactica six years ago. However, as reported already, the second episode of Skins lost over 50% of its debut audience. The second episode pulled in 1.6 million viewers compared to 3.3 million for its launch. The lack of a Jersey Shore lead-in and the current campaign by the Parents Television Council against it have clearly impacted on Skins.
