TV legends pick up top awards at National Television Awards

Bruce Forsyth and Sir David Jason were two TV legends honoured last night at the National Television Awards.

Sir David Jason, famed for roles such as Derek Trotter in Only Fools and Horses and Jack Frost in A Touch Of Frost picked up the award for Outstanding Drama Performance, of which he looked shocked but honoured at.

The Special Recognition Award went to Bruce Forsyth. Bruce has been at the forefront of British television since the 1950s and is currently the host of Strictly Come Dancing. He received his award from last year’s winner Stephen Fry. Forsyth joked that it would be a good time to announce his retirement.

BBC One’s EastEnders were the big winners of the night much to the dismay of ITV1’s Coronation Street. EastEnders picked up Best Serial Drama, Serial Drama Performance (Lacey Turner as Stacey Slater) and Best Newcomer (Ricky Norwood as Fatboy).

Ant and Dec received their tenth award for Best Entertainment Presenter. They are currently filming the audition stages for Britain’s Got Talent but thanked everyone for voting for them. Another show they host, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! picked up Best Entertainment Show. Queen of the jungle, Stacey Solomon and runner up Shaun Ryder picked up the award for the show.
