Lark Rise to CandlefordFans of BBC One’s Sunday evening drama Lark Rise to Candleford have urged the corporation not to axe the period drama after it emerged its current fourth series will be its last. The decision not to renew Lark Rise was announced a few weeks ago by BBC One’s new controller Danny Cohen who said he wanted the drama to go out on a high. Actress Julia Sawalha had previously hinted the fourth season could be Lark Rise last as creator Bill Gallagher was departing the series. It’s been speculated by some the BBC’s decision to cancel the period drama is to make way for a new series of Upstairs Downstairs.

However, not all Lark Rise to Candleford fans are prepared to let the Sunday evening favourite go quietly. Nearly 100 have urged the BBC to re-commission the series which still pulls in over 6 million viewers per episode.
