Eric Mabius predicts Outcasts will be a hit

Actor Eric Mabius has predicted BBC One’s new sci-fi series Outcasts will be a hit – because of the amount of sex in it!

“I don’t especially like sci-fi but there’s lots of sex going on, lots of controversy, religious repression. Lots of juicy bits for people to get their teeth into. That’s what was so appealing about it. There is just enough sci-fi to satisfy fans of the genre but it’s really more about pioneers starting out on a new planet. – Eric Mabius quoted in The Sun

The new drama launches tonight on BBC One and is penned by Spooks writer Ben Richards. It follows the last remnants of humanity, 40 years into the future, who settle on a remote planet. Eric Mabius thinks the eight-part drama will be a hit with viewers but not because of the storyline but the sex within the show.

“It’s done in a classy enough way that even if you don’t like that genre you will buy it….When the script dropped I was in London filming the finale for Ugly Betty. A good friend and director was involved and I thought what a great way to clean my palate of this bad Hollywood experience.” – Eric Mabius quoted in The Sun

Mabius is probably best known for his role of Daniel Meade in the ABC comedy/drama Ugly Betty. The series was cancelled last year after four seasons because of falling ratings. Outcasts also stars Daniel Mays, Hermione Norris, Amy Mason, Liam Cunningham and Jamie Bamber. Maibus plays mysterious passenger Julius Berger in Outcasts.

“Being the only American and having such fine actors restored my faith in this job and what is possible.” – Eric Mabius quoted in The Sun

Outcasts launches tonight on BBC One at 9pm and continues tomorrow evening.
