David Walliams has revealed he rejected the idea of characters from Little Britain appearing within Come Fly With Me. The new mockumentary series is set within an airport and features a wide range of characters who work within the air-port or different airlines. An early idea from Matt Lucas was to have one of his Little Britain characters appear in Come Fly With Me. Lucas wanted his rude receptionist Carol Beer (Computer Says No) to appear as one of the check-in girls but comedy partner David Walliams blocked the idea stating ‘I said we needed a new chapter’.
Come Fly With Me launched on Christmas Day on BBC One and the six part series was a huge success. The Christmas Day edition was seen by over 12 million viewers according to final ratings data while the series itself had an average audience of over 6 million. The six-part series was narrated by actress Lindsay Duncan.
A special documentary Come Fly On The Wall, featuring Lucas and Walliams, airs tonight.
