SmallvilleDespite earlier reports stating Michael Rosenbaum would not be returning to Smallville it has now emerged the actor has signed a deal to reprise his role of Lex Luthor. Entertainment Weekly reported on Thursday that Rosenbaum had declined the chance to reprise the role of Lex ahead of the show’s big finale. That’s all history now though because TVLine are now reporting that Rosenbaum will be Lex Luthor once more.

“It feels like the stars are aligning, literally. We couldn’t be more excited about having Michael back. And as far as the way he returns…there’ll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent’s life. He is the villain of the story.” – Executive producers Kelly Sounders and Brian Peterson in a statement.

“I’m delighted to return for the series finale. I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness and even their threats.” – Michael Rosenbaum in a statement

Michael Rosenbaum played Lex Luthor on the first seven seasons of Smallville – becoming the main nemesis of Clarke Kent during that time. The news will delight Smallville’s many fans who were hoping for a return of Lex Luthor as the superman drama nears it end.
