Lark Rise to Candleford fans are furious over the shows demise and have started various campaigns to try and resurrect the BBC period drama. The BBC announced in January that it was not renewing the period drama for a fifth season. Actress Julia Sawalha had already hinted the shows future was uncertain was its creator Bill Gallagher (who adapted the television series from the novels by Flora Thompson) was not returning for further episodes.
Lark Rise to Candleford ended on Sunday evening on BBC One and since then ATV Today has been flooded with comments by angry viewers. The decision not to renew Lark Rise was taken by new BBC One controller Danny Cohen who took over from Jay Hunt late last year. It is thought by some the decision was taken to clear the way for the revival of Upstairs Downstairs which, last week, was renewed for a second season.
Fans of Lark Rise to Candleford have launched several different campaigns on Facebook to try and save the series. One such page already has nearly 500 members and you can join it here >>
