Firefly fans launch new campaign on Facebook

Fans of the Joss Whedon series Firefly have launched a new campaign to resurrected the sci–fi series after a surge in media interest last week.

Entertainment Weekly are reporting that fans of the Joss Whedon series Firefly are launching a new campaign to resurrected the sci-fi. The new campaign follows a surge of interested in Firefly in the past week after it was announced repeats were too air, in America, on a cable channel. Lead actor Nathan Fillion then stated he’d happily return to Firefly if there was a revival – and now fans of the series are jumping on the bandwagon.

The short-lived series was cancelled by Fox because of low ratings in the notorious Friday evening “graveyard slot” (see also Dollhouse, The Sarah Connor Chronicles and possibly Fringe). However, a movie, Serenity, followed the cancellation and fans were hopeful of a revival or continuation in the form of DVD Movies. With the new media interest in the series fans have come together on Facebook to launch the ‘Help Nathan Fillion buy Firefly’ campaign.

Will it be successful? Well if there’s enough interested generated by the campaign its just possible someone might deem money can be made from Firefly and order a new series or mini-series or DVD movie. In other words if you want to see Firefly back make your voice heard and shout as loud as you can as its the only way!
