According to some reports in America actress Rebecca Herbst will not be leaving General Hospital after a strong backlash from fans. Updated: ABC confirm Herbst to remain on the soap.

According to some reports in America actress Rebecca Herbst will not be leaving General Hospital after a strong backlash from fans. It was announced earlier this year that actress Rebecca Herbst was to leave the ABC medical soap after 13 years playing Elisabeth Webber. The news was met with shock be fellow cast members who took to social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook to post their shock. The news also came as a surprise to fans and quickly a backlash against the news developed.

Now according to reports in America that backlash has promoted a change of heart – or so the rumours claim.  ABC Soaps in Depth have hinted the actress will remain as have several other sites. If the reports coming out from America are true the fans have won the day and Rebecca Herbst is to stay on at General Hospital – though ABC themselves have yet to confirm this.

Updated: ABC has now confirmed the actress is NOT leaving and will remain part of the General Hospital cast.
