Al Jazeera cameraman killed in Libya

An Al Jazeera cameraman was killed in Libya on Saturday after being ambushed by pro government forces.

The Arabic network announced that cameraman Ali Hassan al-Jaber was killed when their team were fired upon from pro government supporters who back current Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

The Arabic broadcaster has often come under fire from middle eastern governments and in the past had been criticised by Western governments due to airings of tapes from Osama Bin Laden. Since the launch of Al Jazeera English, the broadcaster has seen support from other media rivals and are often praised for their reporting.
