Friday Night Dinner gets Second Helping

Channel 4’s Comedy department have confirmed that Friday Night Dinner will return for a second series.

Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Tamsin Greig of Black Books fame, Inbetweeners actor Simon Bird and Pulling’s Paul Ritter, Friday Night Dinner is described by Channel 4 as ‘a truly original series about growing up but not growing away’. Each episode takes place over the course of a Friday night, as twenty-something brothers Adam and Jonny go round to their parents’ house for Friday night dinner.

Friday Night Dinner is written and produced by Robert Popper, whose credits include Look Around You, Peep Show, South Park, The Inbetweeners, Him & Her and The IT Crowd.

Robert Popper says of the second series, “I am so happy to be making a second series of Friday Night Dinner for Channel 4. I can’t wait to get writing in the same small room again for eight lonely months, talking to myself at regular intervals, and eating far too many biscuits.”

Consolidated viewing data for the series to date shows that Friday Night Dinner is averaging an audience 2.0m and an 8.9% share. The total audience to the premiere transmission to the first episode of the series exceeded 2.8m.
