Brenda Strong joins Dallas
Desperate Housewives actress Brenda Strong has been cast in TNT’s revived Dallas.
The actress will play the role of Ann, the new wife of Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy) reports TVLINE. Ann will be the third wife of the Ewing heart-throb. When Dallas started, with its mini-series in 1978, Bobby had just married Pamela Barnes (Victoria Principle). The Barnes and Ewing families had a long-standing feud and Pam’s brother Cliff (Ken Kercheval) was not happy about the union and nor was Bobby’s brother JR (Larry Hagman). Bobby later married April Stevens (Sheree J. Wilson) following the departure of Pam.
TNT’s revival of Dallas is a continuation of the original series which ended in 1991 but continued during the decade with television movies. Original cast members Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray have all signed up for the new pilot. The new Dallas revolves around the “next generation” of Ewing children; JR’s son John Ross and Bobby’s son Christopher. Already signed up for the new series are Jesse Metcalfe and Joss Henderson (both also former Desperate Housewives actors) and Jordana Brewster.
Actress Brenda Strong plays the role of Mary-Alice Young in ABC’s Desperate Housewives. The actress usually narrates the episodes and only appears on-screen occasionally via flashbacks or fantasy sequences since her character was killed off in the drama’s opening episode.
