Dannii Minogue won’t be returning to The X Factor for its next series, leaving only Louis Walsh as an original judge and mentor.

“I am so disappointed that I can’t be a part of The X Factor this year. I’m going to miss the show and the amazing team who work so incredibly hard on it. During discussions for me to return it became clear that unfortunately this year, the X factor audition dates in the UK clash with the live shows of Australia’s Got Talent during June and July. For this reason I am unable to return.”

“I want to wish the new judges every success for this years show, and can’t wait to see who the British public choose as their next big star. Thanks to everyone who has shown me so much love and support, and brought me so much joy during my incredible four years working on the show.”

Dannii first joined the singing talent show in 2007 alongside Brian Friedman, Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne. After a short absence Louis Walsh returned later in the series, his replacement Friedman then sidelined. In 2008 Sharon quit the show to be replaced by Cheryl Cole. The Cole and Minogue era proved popular with many of the female viewers with a ‘battle of the fashions’ seemingly playing out across the live shows.

This year both Cole and Cowell have departed to concentrate on the American version of X Factor. Replacement names mooted to fill the gaps have included Take That singer Gary Barlow and Alesha Dixon.

Dannii however adds her X Factor era hasn’t come entirely to an end just yet. “Team Minogue ‘ will continue to fly a flag later this year when the amazing talented, and last years winner, Matt Cardle releases his debut album.”
