CBS orders eighth season of CSI: NY
CBS has renewed CSI: NY for an 8th season bringing to an end speculation over the spin-offs future. However, the Network has opted not to renew Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.
There had been much debate over the future of CSI: NY as ratings for its recent 7th season were lower – dropping to an average of 10 million viewers per episode. Some had speculated that CBS would cancel the spin-off as a result of its lower ratings. However, the spin-off starring Gary Sinise has bee renewed by CBS. It’s not clear though how many episodes the network has ordered for the eighth season – so its possible it may be a smaller episode order to begin with.
Meanwhile Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, spin-off from Criminal Minds, has not been renewed for a second series. The spin-off launched well with 13 million viewers but subsequent episodes saw ratings drop with figures going as low as 8 million viewers. However, its average more or less put it on par – or there about – with CSI: New York.
Over the weekend CBS announced it had cancelled S#*! My Dad Says, Mad Love and The Defenders and had renewed Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-0 for second seasons.
