Vera ends with 5 million viewers

ITV’s new detective drama Vera, starring Brenda Blethyn, ended its four-part run with 5 million viewers on Sunday evening while the British Academy Television Awards on BBC One, hosted by Graham Norton, had 5.4 million viewers.
It was revealed earlier this week that ITV had ordered a second series of Vera, its’ detective drama based on the novels by Ann Cleves. A further four adaptations have been commissioned according to various reports.
Vera has been a modest hit for ITV1 on Sunday evenings pulling in over 5 million viewers for its episodes.

The BAFTAs on BBC One enjoyed a rise in ratings compared to last year’s ceremony as 5.4 million viewers tuned in – an increase of over 1 million viewers.
The ceremony was hosted by Graham Norton who walked away with a gong himself for his BBC chat-show. Other notable winners included Sherlock, Martin Freeman, EastEnders, The Killing, The Road to Coronation Street and The Only Way is Essex.
Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch were beaten by Daniel Rigby, for his role in BBC Two’s biopic Eric and Ernie, for the Best Actor gong.
The two actors are lead stars of shows penned by Steven Moffat – Doctor Who and Sherlock.
