Ann Mitchell to return to EastEnders

EastEndersBryan Kirkwood, producer of EastEnders, has confirmed actress Ann Mitchell will return to the BBC One soap later this year.

The actress will reprise her role of the plain-speaking Cora Cross, the mother of Tanya (Jo Joyner) later this year. Kirkwood has also confirmed that Tanya’s sister Rainie (played by Family Affairs actress Tanya Franks) will also be sticking around in Albert Square. Cora appeared in EastEnders earlier this year when Tanya married boyfriend Greg Jessop (Stefan Booth).

“We all love Cora here – actress Ann Mitchell could be one of the Walford greats. She’ll be returning late in the summer and is here to stay….I’m really keen to establish the Cross women – Rainie completes the mix as the slightly broken sister who’s one step away from a vodka bottle”- Bryan Kirkwood quoted in Inside Soap magazine

The role of Cora Cross isn’t Ann Mitchell’s first in EastEnders. She previously played Jane, a former mistress of Roy Evans (Tony Caunter) for a brief stint in 2001/2002.
