Syfy in talks to pick up The Event

Cancelled NBC drama The Event could be picked up by Syfy according to reports.

Deadline reports that Syfy is in talks to pick up the drama which was cancelled by NBC last month. The drama starred Jason Ritter and Sarah Roemer and premiered well for NBC with 10 million viewers. The Event averaged 9 million viewers for its first four episodes prompting NBC to pick up a full series but then ratings began to decline and quickly dropped to around 5 million viewers – prompting the axe by NBC.

According to Deadline Syfy is interested in acquiring The Event as a mini-series and Steve Stark, executive producer, has confirmed talks are taking place over the possible move. However, other reports claim that Syfy is NOT in talks to acquire the series. Producers of The Event remain hopeful it will be picked up by another broadcaster.
