Candy Cabs axed by the BBC
BBC One comedy drama Candy Cabs will not be re-commissioned for a second series.
Broadcast reports the BBC has decided not to order a second season of the series. The three-part comedy drama, written by Elliott Hope and Johanne McAndrew, aired in April on BBC One. Although it launched well with 5.5 million viewers the following two episodes saw big drop in rating levels. As well as declining ratings the series received mix reviews from critics.
Candy Cabs starred EastEnders actress Jo Joyner as well as Paul Nicholls, Paul Kaye, Melanie Hill, Claire Sweeney and Denis Lawson. It revolved around a group of friends setting up an all female cab company in a seaside town. The series was commissioned by Jay Hunt before her departure from the BBC.
