Scott and Bailey loses viewers
Scott & Bailey lost nearly 2 million viewers for its second outing last night but despite the drop in viewers it was still comfortably ahead of new BBC One drama Case Histories.
Scott & Bailey, starring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp, launched last week on ITV1 with an impressive 8 million viewers – 8.3 million if you add viewings from the ITV time-shift channel. It was sandwiched between two editions of Britain’s Got Talent which doubtlessly benefited the new drama. For its second outing, last night at 9pm, Scott & Bailey saw a big drop in ratings but was still comfortably ahead of Case Histories on BBC One. The ITV detective drama had 6.1 million viewers – still an impressive figure for a drama these days. That compares to 5.4 million viewers for Case Histories on BBC One at 9pm.
Elsewhere last night the second series of Popstar to Operastar on ITV1 had 4.4 million viewers while on BBC One Antiques Roadshow had 6.5 million viewers. At 7pm The Royal returned after a long absence to ITV1. The 1960s drama, along with parent series Heartbeat, has been cancelled by ITV1 but still has a few remaining episodes to be broadcast. The medical drama had 4.6 million viewers but was beaten by rural magazine show Countryfile on BBC One which had 5.2 million viewers.
