BBC orders seventh series of Doctor Who

Doctor WhoThe BBC has reportedly ordered a seventh series of Doctor Who.

Several websites are reporting that the BBC has ordered a new series of Doctor Who which will once again star Matt Smith as the Time Lord. According to the Doctor Who Newspage the news of the renewal was made on Twitter by Sam Hodges, the head of communications for BBC1, Fiction, Daytime and HD. The Tweet confirmed the seventh series had been given the green-light with 14 episodes ordered in all – 13 for the series and the 14th being a Christmas Special most likely. Pre-production work on the new series has, according to some sites, already begun with Torchwood writer John Fay to pen an episode. The series will once again be helmed by Steven Moffat.
