Nicola Stapleton to return to EastEnders
It’s been confirmed that Nicola Stapleton is to reprise her role of Mandy Salter on EastEnders.
The actress originally appeared in the BBC soap between 1992 and 1994 but after an absence of 17 years will return to Albert Square. Mandy was never popular with the resident of Walford and her return will sure cause plenty of drama as doubtless she’ll soon be back to her old tricks.
“I’m looking forward to playing Mandy again. It will be interesting to see what she’s been up to. I’m excited to be coming back and working with some old friends.” – Nicola Stapleton.
During Mandy’s original stay on Albert Square she robbed, blackmailed and spread malicious rumours about several residents. Perhaps her most memorable storyline was her romance with teen footballer Aidan (Sean Maguire) and before her exit in 1994 having a one-night stand with Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen).
Since leaving EastEnders in 1994 actress Nicola Stapleton appeared in the final two seasons of Bad Girls and also Casualty, The Bill, EastEnders and Hollyoaks. Fans with long memories will remember that Mandy’s mother Lorraine was played by actress Linda Henry who now plays Shirley Carter on the BBC soap. Henry was almost a cast member on Bad Girls, playing Yvon Atkins, but left the ITV drama before Stapleton joined the cast.
